Breakfast is your first fuel for the day and there are so many delicious choices!

It's best to choose foods high in energy to help fuel you for the day ahead, plus high in fibre and essential nutrients.

This totally tropical oats recipe gives you all you need for a fantastic start to your day, just the right amount of carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats.

If you don't like oats or have an oat or gluten allergy/intolerance then just swap out the oats for quinoa or buckwheat instead.

Ingredients
30-40g Oats
120-150ml Water
1 tbsp Ground Flax and/or Chia Seeds
Handful of Fresh or Frozen Exotic Fruits
1 Small Banana
1 tbsp Coconut Flakes or Desiccated Coconut

Recipe
1) Add oats to a mason jar or breakfast bowl. Top with water.
2) Add flax/chia seeds - stir well.
3) Add fresh or frozen exotic fruits such as mango or pineapple, plus slices of banana and a sprinkling of coconut flakes.
4) Leave to soak overnight in the fridge.
5) Heat in the microwave if you like it hot or eat cold if you prefer.

Top Tips

If there are any ingredients that you do not like in any of the recipes, then feel free to swap them out for another food choice within the same food category (grains, beans & other legumes, fruit, veg, nuts & seeds).

You can also use frozen fruit or veg when you don’t have the fresh option.

Don’t forget to keep the skins on your veg where possible for essential added fibre and nutrition.
